The Importance of Strong SEO Pre-Crisis

Search engine optimization (SEO) is a great and tricky thing that we often hear about, though not many of us really, truly understand. And that’s OK because it’s tricky, complex and with the frequency in which technology and algorithms change, SEO is an ever-changing evolution. What we do know, however, is that it’s needed for our online presence since good SEO tends to equal more website visits and hopefully more sales. But what about your SEO with crisis management in mind? How does SEO play a role in your online reputation management and your online crisis management?

The role of SEO in your online crisis management

Having your website properly optimized and ranking as highly as possible within the search engines for your targeted keywords is, as I’ve said, great for business, but it’s also incredibly great as a pre-crisis strategy. The better you rank, the more optimized your website’s foundation, the easier it will be to keep your presence within the first pages of the search engine results in a crisis, when high-profile blogs, news sites and social media are all talking about your brand and thus ranking high against you.

The better optimized you are pre-crisis, the more chances you have of keeping your head above water, getting your message out and heard, and not being out-ranked and over-powered with negativity in a crisis.
