Instagram Needs to Have a Place in Your Crisis Management Plan

12 Sep

instagram-iconHas your organization assessed the many risks that Instagram brings to the table? If something negative about your organization were to circulate and begin to go viral on the social media site, would your team be ready and prepared to deal with it appropriately?

Instagram announced this week that they have officially reached 150 million active users – 60% of which come from outside of the U.S.

Whether your organization actively uses Instagram or not, it’s time for your crisis team to assess the risks that Instagram brings to the table and incorporate the social media site into your crisis communications and crisis management plan.

Images and videos are known to be the types of content with the highest viral potential and Instagram is a platform designated to both – with over 150 million active users. Talk about viral potential and a long list of risks that your organization and crisis team need to be ready for.

So, without further ado, I recommend that you schedule a time to sit down with the right members of your team and talk Instagram risk. Of course, if you need any help along the way, the Agnes + Day team is here and we just might specialize in such a task ;) .
